About Drillbotics:

Drillbotics is an International Student Competition held by SPE on a yearly basis. The aim is to design and build a fully autonomous laboratory-scaled drilling rig. The rig will be tested by the SPE representatives on the competition to perform the competition goals.

I have joined UiS Drillbotics as a 2017-2018 board member (total 8). The project is ongoing under supervision of Dan Sui with a collaboration to AkerBP, and contributors are Bachelor, Master and PhD students working on different tasks.

Tasks & Achievements:

  • Sensor implementation and design of the Microcontroller (Arduino Uno and Due).
  • Real-time modeling of the drill string vibration from sensor data + Develop a standalone visual application to animate the vibration.
  • Lithology classification from drilling data.
